The Hidden Danger That Could Be Destroying Your Home: A Warning to Families and Homeowners

Mom I Can’t Breathe!!

The words rang in my ears as I rushed our 6-year-old daughter into the car. This is what she said, my Amelia, my heart, just before collapsing.

I juggled calling my husband, looking at the back to check on her faint breathing and avoiding collisions on the road, I kept trying to understand if she had eaten something wrong from last night, had a fall, or anything, to make sense of what was happening. I was blank.

She had been coughing for the last few days, but that was all. I thought it was a seasonal thing, everyone was getting it, so what now?

My mind was numb, my heart pumping so fast that I couldn’t hear the muffled sounds she was making.

“Ma’am, step back. We’ve got her,”  said the ER as they wheeled her away.

I let the stretcher go, still searching her pale face for a response as they rushed her away.

Amelia, Oh Amelia, darling…… my sweet baby open your eyes…

Amelia had pneumonia. She couldn’t breathe, turned blue, and fainted.

The culprit: BLACK MOLD

“Black mold doctor? But… We just shifted here. Wait are you sure?” I stammered.

If we hadn’t acted in time, we could have lost her.

In the two weeks that my daughter spent in the hospital, my husband and I scoured the house to check where the mold was…. and found nothing. It was time for professional intervention.

My husband searched online for a company that did mold testing. We decided on a company called Zavza Seal because it serviced our area in Brooklyn and had some great reviews, so a consultation was scheduled.

We found that our house though new, had suffered major water damage in the past, and because of no insulation, our window sills and frames were teeming with mold and not just any kind, the black kind. The black kind was Stachybotrys chartarum – also known as black death

The team told us and our research confirmed that stachybotrys chartarum releases mycotoxins that can cause chronic sinus infections, asthma, fatigue, and even neurological problems

Our daughter – who was staying with her aunt until the remediation process was over, was living proof of the effects of Stachybotrys chartarum.

The team cleared everything. It took us a week to move back. We were scared but they assured us that they didn’t leave a speck behind. It’s been more than a year, and Amelia never got any symptoms again.

No wonder Amelia – young and prone to asthma symptoms – had suffered the worst.

We made the mistake of not getting the place tested for mold before moving in and I write this piece now so that you dont make this mistake like we did.

If you notice persistent coughing, unexplained fatigue, or a musty odor in your home, don’t wait. Get professional mold testing NOW.

Hurry – black mold can cost you a life!

Moving into a new house is a dream come true for any family. You look forward to making a lifetime of memories together, thinking this home is a safe haven to keep everyone together happy, and protected. Threats always luck outside the home, never in. Right?

Wrong! Hiding behind the walls, especially in older homes, lurks a devastating threat: Black Mold, ready to jeopardize the health and safety of you and your family, silently.

The Hidden Dangers of Black Mold

Black mold, or Stachybotrys chartarum thrives in damp, humid conditions, releasing spores that pose significant health risks. Exposure to these spores can lead to symptoms such as wheezing, sore throat, congestion, and in severe cases, hypersensitivity pneumonitis – a condition that inflames the lungs. Young children and the elderly, with their weak immune systems, are particularly vulnerable, especially those with asthma.

A Cautionary Tale

Recently, a beautiful family with small children moved into their new Brownstone home. But everyone started getting sick, one by one. The causes were unknown. Fatigue, inflammation, neurological dysfunction, and severe allergies had become a norm in their household. The future that once seemed so promising now only consisted of doctor appointments and declining health.

A neighbor reached out and recommended mold testing, stating that his family previously faced the similar issues. They called local mold experts for inspection and mold testing. Sure enough, the house was teeming with hidden black mold behind walls, and immediate remediation was carried out. When the family moved back to the house, they never suffered the symptoms again.

Preventive Measures and Professional Assistance

Black mold, if hidden, can be much harder to eliminate. Only professionals with their special tools and testing procedures can find and eliminate it from the root. Mold is a side effect of moisture issues. Without addressing water damage first, mold removal will not be effective.

Take Action Before It’s Too Late

Take control. Don’t let a hidden mold problem compromise your family’s health. If you’ve noticed persistent respiratory issues, unexplained fatigue, or a musty odor in your home, it’s time to act. If you notice musty odors, fatigue, and respiratory issues, it’s time to call the professionals. Contact your local mold remediation professionals for a free consultation and appointment.
